I promised to write someone a 17500 word novella by end October 2012. I'm collecting resources and advice here.

Lovis Corinth : self portrait, 1896

I am a suspicious individual and had to google this gent’s name to assure myself this is actually from 1896 and not, as I originally thought, 1986.

I suppose I can justify the misfire - after all, my main blog is about appreciating the male form and I mean, just look at him!

If we could sniff or swallow something that would, for five or six hours each day, abolish our solitude as individuals, atone us with our fellows in a glowing exaltation of affection and make life in all its aspects seem not only worth living, but divinely beautiful and significant, and if this heavenly, world-transfiguring drug were of such a kind that we could wake up next morning with a clear head and an undamaged constitution — then, it seems to me, all our problems (and not merely the one small problem of discovering a novel pleasure) would be wholly solved and earth would become paradise.

It’s called “old age”.

I just want to say that this is why minority representation in the media matters. Mae Jemison was inspired to become an astronaut after watching Nichelle Nichols as Uhura on Star Trek.
